Writing for the web and SEO friendly: what rules to follow?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. But what is the much-felt and feared SEO? Trivially, the cross and delight of every copywriter. Writing for SEO means evaluating many parameters and making sure that the content is optimized for search engines. In general, a better ranking in Google is given to pages that respond more fully and effectively to user requests. But what makes text effective for the user and for SEO?
The interesting and useful topics for users, as well as the right length for the text. A text must be neither too long nor too short and must fit within the screen of the device for which it is designed;
Attention to the use of the right keywords, chosen on the basis of the topic covered. The text must be natural, without limiting or repeating the keywords too much, generating the hateful (and not appreciated by Google) keyword stuffing phenomenon. The attention paid to the main and related keywords is extremely important because it is around these that the article will be built. The frequency, position, and distance of the keywords in the text are vital;
The organization of a text on a content level. SEO friendly content will be such if we don’t forget to insert a title and a subtitle and divide the text into paragraphs;
The formatting, including graphics, used. Bold, numbering, lists, and internal or external links in the text are characteristics highly appreciated by Google;
Content optimization of the title tag, description tag, title, and meta description: Google also indexes according to these parameters;
Optimization of the headings and presence of the main keyword;
Use of appropriate images and optimized alt text. If used correctly, the images allow you to space the text and to correctly and profitably index the content;
Presence of a call to action. Users love to read interesting content and “test” what they are talking about: so why not invite them to do something?
What is Content Optimization?
Content optimization is a process in which we improve the quality and relevance of the pages of our site so that:
Are useful and informative for those who read them?
Are easy to analyze, index and position from search engines?
When we find ourselves creating the contents of our website, we must think in fact of both the users who will read it and the search engines who first of all suggest it to these users on the results page.
Before you start writing, ask yourself: what are my goals? If you want to sell, for example, tennis rackets for beginners, what content will you write? What linguistic approach will you take? Will you use colloquial or professional language, will you provide information like a specialized newspaper or as a personal blog?
All these choices have an impact both on the type of business. You will create and positioning your content on search engines, so pay attention and care to the things you will publish on your site. If you do that then users will come back willingly and share your posts and pages also with others.
Content Optimization Tips: How to Busy SEO Bloggers Do It
In this article, I will show you how to content optimization of your blog so as to make it readable for your readers and very well structured for Google which is the main source from which new readers come.
The fundamental idea that you must always keep in mind is that your site must provide the best content on the topic you have chosen. People are looking for engaging articles, full of reliable advice and authoritative answers to their questions. Writing high-quality content for your site starts with writing unique ideas in your sector and with a particular approach, a style that characterizes you in dealing with that topic.
The next job will be to make these ideas written in a well-structured and accessible way. Together, these two actions will help you attract the audience you are looking for and keep them engaged for as long as possible on your site. Let’s go and know the ultimate content optimization tips below
1.Search for your customers’ wishes and find out what they need
Before you start writing content optimization, you need to do a thorough research job or you have to start thinking about what terms your readers put in searches. Then you will extrapolate the keywords that are the basis of the research you have found.
These Keywords or “keywords” will be the ones you want to position yourself for. Therefore, each page or article must be optimized for a specific keyword. But how can you determine which keyword to use?
To find out, you need to do some keyword research simulations. In this process, you should ask yourself questions like:
For which keywords do I want to position myself?
How realistic is the ability to position me for these keywords?
Example: Imagine having a cooking blog, you are passionate about recipes and you want to share your favorites, describing the cooking techniques you use. Optimizing an article for a keyword like “best” isn’t such a realistic goal [the best recipe for cakes], because it’s a very generic term.
There is a lot of competition for such general keywords. Instead, you should think about finding your niche.
This niche could be [healthy low-sugar cakes]. Your experience allows you to create content for your niche that goes beyond competitive items. You can go deeper than others and shed light on several points on the same topic.
At that moment you will have captured the attention of your reader! For this purpose, I advise you to focus on long-tail keywords: a long-tail keyword could be [like making a low-calorie vegan blueberry pie].
A keyword like this is more specific and therefore much easier to the position. It is also important to think about what the audience actually wants to accomplish by looking for a specific term.
This is called research intent. For example, it might look for the answer to a specific question that you are able to answer completely. Or he may want to buy a specific product that you can offer them.
Think about the needs of your visitors & face them by creating high-quality content that provides answers.
2.Write fantastic content for your users
After researching the keywords and knowing the topics you have to start thinking about writing. Most of the time it is easier said than done.
To move from a written idea to great content, most likely you will have to follow a cycle of drafting, writing, editing, and rewriting. Your first draft can only be a draft of your final article.
At this point, you don’t have to write everything in perfect prose, but be sure to follow a logical structure. For most pieces, this will include an introduction, the main discussion points, and a conclusion.
Of course, this varies according to the kind treated: a recipe will have a completely different structure, from how to repair a dent on the bodywork. You can also write at different levels of readers and reading: a first summary that provides a quick answer and then a digression with insights, details, curiosities, suggestions.
For example: in the recipe, you can immediately say the ingredients and only in the second part of the article can you give some tips or tricks that you only know.
Finally, in the editing phase, you should check if your piece is engaging and easy to read. You may be an expert on your topic, but your audience probably isn’t.
So you have to try to make your writing as accessible as per as possible.
If in doubt, it is always best to ask a friend or colleague for feedback. Another good trick is to read your text aloud.
3.Optimize all your individual content (articles, pages, products, etc)
When you write or edit your article, there are a number of elements that you need to pay particular attention to make it SEO-friendly. These elements include the title, the subtitles, and the description (meta description).
All these elements must reflect the topic of the article.
Don’t forget: SEO-friendly does not simply mean that it is easy for a search engine to find the topic of a page, but more importantly, it means that your visitors can get the juice of your page at a glance.
The description and title are decisive factors in the visitor’s decision to click on the search results right on your page. And once they have clicked and arrived on your page, elements such as subtitles or bold words can be fundamental for visitors: it helps them decide if they want to stay on your page by immediately identifying the useful topics.
4.Set your main keywords
An important rule is not to use a keyword on more than one page, otherwise, you may end up cannibalizing yourself.
Most of the time, you don’t have to place multiple pages on the same keyword, because it means you’re competing alone. It is important to include the keyword in crucial elements of your article, such as the title, introduction, subtitles, and description.
All these elements are fundamental signals for what concerns your content. Since the keyword is, in fact, the main topic of the page, it is very important to make sure that this topic is reflected in all these elements.
The same logic applies to your text: you must make sure not to move away from the topic; if you stay in the discussion, it should be natural that you use your keyword multiple times in the text. But absolutely avoid filling your text with the keyword just for the sake of doing it because it won’t bring you any advantage.
If you find it difficult to include the keyword in your text enough times, it could be a sign that you should take a different approach to the topic. To avoid repetition, you can use synonyms. Synonyms are words that have exactly the same meaning or more or less the same value as your keyword.
Related keywords can be used to optimize a single page (this topic deserves a specific article). This is used to give context to your keyword.
Let’s take an example: if your keyword is [pumpkin soup] your related keyword could be [dinners during the winter week]. This second term [winter dinner] provides more information on your basic topic.
Remember to link between pages similar to your basic article with consistent links.
5.Optimize the permalinks of your pages and articles
In most cases, your post’s URL * should contain your keyword, so it’s obvious what your page is about simply by reading the link: URL or permalink. * URL is the string of words you read at the top of the browser, it is www. aroushtechbd.net which is written at the top on Chrome or Edge or another program to navigate.
Be careful that you should always try to keep short permalinks, clean & descriptive – do not put unnecessary words for the sake of it! Before posting new posts or pages, you may also want to consider removing “stopwords” from your permalink. These are words like “a”, “e” and “il”. If done carefully, this could make your permalinks more readable and easier to use or link.
Posts with particularly long headlines can benefit from this approach. For posts that have already been published, I advise you to be careful when changing permalinks.
If people are already linking to your pages, changing the URLs could be a problem. Although WordPress will sometimes redirect users to the new location (Yoast SEO Premium’s redirect manager handles this automatically and more reliably), changing URLs can affect performance.
The title of each page – the content of the HTML tag <title> – is one of the most important factors for positioning well in search results. Not only is it the literal title of the tab or browser window, but it’s also the first line that people see in the search results.
It describes what you talk about on your page and acts as an ad that encourages users to click. On many sites, the default structure for posts and pages does not have the optimal approach for SEO.
A title like “My blog» Cooking »The Carbonara recipe” is not as compelling or effective as “My delicious carbonara recipe in 20 minutes | My blog “. It is essential to think about the title structure and the content of the title on each individual page. In general, it is worth considering that:
Search engines could give more weight to the first few words, so trying to insert keywords near the beginning of the title could make positioning more likely for that keyword.
People who look at pages in Google’s results are attracted to the first few words of the title. If the keywords are at the beginning of your ad, your page is more likely to be clicked.

Did you know that? You should use the Yoast SEO plugin to structure your titles! You can check the default structure of titles and page descriptions in your Yoast SEO plugin. There are two parts of the plugin that control them.
Content Optimization tips by (Yoast SEO plugin to structure your titles) -http://aroushtechbd.net
First of all, as soon as you install and activate the plugin, you get an “SEO” section in your WordPress dashboard. Go to SEO → Search Appearance and you will see a bunch of tabs for different types of pages on your site.
For each type of post and taxonomy, you can set up a template for the title – as well as templates for the description. For posts on my site it looks like this:
This allows you to use components and variables to control the behavior of page titles by default. Of course, this structure can be overwritten or set on every single page.
For example, in the image above you can see how I am automatically acquiring the element as the title of the page, this is a tool that helps me not having to manually write the titles from scratch for each page. All title and meta description variables are available and they are all listed and explained in the help tab on the page. Note: When using these templates, be sure to check that the title tags behave as expected when displayed on the site.
If they don’t, you may have a problem with your theme and you will need to check and select the “Force rewrite” checkbox in the SEO Yoast options. You can also follow these instructions (in English on the Yoast official website) to modify your models.
7.Use headers correctly
Headers are ideal for structuring content and helping readers process information in smaller chunks. WordPress transforms the headers you put into your content into their respective HTML tags (<h1>, <h2>, <h3> and so on).
This makes it important to think about what type of securities to use and in what order. Getting this wrong can make your content more difficult to read and understand. Even though most WordPress themes have the right basic settings, it is worth making sure that the template defines the post title as a <h1> tag and that it does not use the <h1> tag anywhere else on the page or of the content of the post.
The content of your article should, therefore “flow” naturally; for example, large and meaningful headers should use <h2> tags, subsections should use <h3> tags, and so on.
To learn more about why correct headers are important, read this article on headlines and SEO (on the official SEO site Yoast in English). In addition, you can read Yoast’s article on the header structure for your blog. (on the official SEO Yoast website in English)
8.Optimize your descriptions – meta description
The description is mainly used by the search engines to show a short summary, a short presentation of your page in the search engine results and they are usually under the page title.
Customizing and writing a meta description effectively can encourage users to click on results in the search engine, even if we are not positioned in the first position. It’s an advertisement and it’s your opportunity to impress the reader.
You have to write a captivating and informative description of the contents of your page for each page of your site is a good practice and offers you the opportunity to attract more visits. While it may seem like a lot of work to create descriptions for every single page and post, it is worth the effort.
9.We do not recommend automated descriptions
Some themes and plugins try to produce descriptions automatically, taking the first sentence of a post. This is an intelligent shortcut, but it rarely produces good descriptions. The first sentence of a post is often introductory information, which does not provide an excellent summary or a tempting announcement!
The only well-written description is the one made by hand and if you are thinking of automatically generating the meta description, you may also do nothing and let the search engine choose and control the snippet. Automatically generating a snippet is a “shortcut” but there are no real and effective shortcuts in SEO! If you don’t provide a description, generally the search engine will try to find the keyword that has been inserted on your page and will automatically select a string around that keyword. Google will highlight the searched phrase in bold on the results page. Automatically generated snippets (both from plugins and search engines) are rarely as descriptive or compelling as handwritten ones. Therefore, I recommend using the description field that you find in the Yoast SEO plugin to write a valid description.
Make sure the description pushes the reader to click and make sure it contains the focus keyword of your post or page at least once. Note: Search engines may choose to ignore the meta description if they think it is unsuitable for the page, or they may choose to show a customized description from the page content if they think it is a better solution. There is no way to force them to use your specific snippet.
10.Optimize your images and media
An often overlooked part when it comes to SEO on WordPress is the way you manage your images, videos, and multimedia content. To make sure search engines understand your images, you need to think about how to name and format your files.
The description is also very important and helps to significantly improve performance. As an added benefit, you are also helping readers who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers. Read this longer article on Image SEO which can give you more tips to refine image optimization!
