Complete Guide To Setting Up Yoast SEO Plugin For WordPress

Complete activation, you will notice a new menu item on the WordPress admin bar, labeled with the Yoast SEO logo in SEO.

Now that you have installed and activated the plugin, let’s see how to set up this powerful plugin correctly.

As you should remember, the settings that we select are more than that we recommend. Other experts may have their own preferences and considerations, so advanced users can ignore something that they are not liked.

If you are a disciple, and you want to use Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin, then follow step-by-step.

Step 1. Transfer information

Most of you probably have a theme framework for another WordPress plugin such as an SEO Pack, or Adhesive related to your SEO data.

If you want to use this plugin successfully, you must do this to ensure that all previous data sent to this plugin before disabling any one of your other.

To do this, we recommend using the SEO Data Transporter by StudioPoos. If you’re setting up a new blog, then skip this step.

Step 2. General Settings

Clicking on the SEO icon will take you to the Plugin Settings page. Click the ‘General’ tab and you will see a button to open the configuration wizard. We would like you to ignore this wizard because we will take you through step by step.

Step 3. Feature

Switch to the ‘Features’ tab and enable the Advanced Settings page.

Do not forget to click the Save Changes button to save your settings.

You will get notice of new items present in your WordPress menu SEO options.

These items include Title and Meta, XML Sitemaps, Social, Advanced, and Tools. We will be showing how each one set up this article later.

Step 4. Your information

Next, you have to switch to ‘Your Information’ tab. This is where you provide information about your site and the person or organization behind it.

First, you need to provide an alternate name for a site name and search engine. Your site name may be the title of your site.

If you do not enter anything here, then Yoast SEO will automatically use your site title as your website name. Google may display this information in search engines such as search engines such as:

The next option is to choose whether this website is managed by a company or a separate person. If you select the company, you will be asked to supply a company name and you can upload a company logo.

On the other hand, if you choose a person, then you can add the person’s name behind the website.

Step 5. Webmaster Tools

If you learn a little about SEO

Webmaster Tools lets you see insights and other relevant data about your site from a specific search engine.

To verify your site and see that particular information, you need to add a meta tag to your site or upload a file. Most producers are afraid to add a meta tag, so Yoast installs this option to make the process easier. Only add meta code to the search engine in the relevant fields.

Step 6. Security

Security with the last tab labeled in the General Settings is only a substitute that disables the improved part of the WordPress SEO meta box. We recommend that you disable it. Disabling advanced Metabox will prevent your authors from enhanced changes (which are good), such as no index and canonical settings.

Step 7. Title and Meta

There are several tabs under the title and meta section under Yoast SEO. We will cover each of them.

  1. General

Here you can select a sign that you want to use a separator in the headings. Default option dash, you can use it if you want to select a symbol.

In this web page, you may disable the clarity and key-word analysis tab, a good way to appear beneath Yoast search engine optimization Metabox whilst you write the post, and we recommend which you stop permitting them.

  1. Homepage title

Next, we will work to determine the title of our home page. By default, you will see these fields pre-filled with the title-templates. So what is the difference between a title and a template, you can ask?

In events like your homepage, you can create a static headline, description, and keywords. But for the post, the title will change from one post to another.

The title template is drawn and organized into titles and other metadata that you can define in a way.

For home page settings, let’s look at the image below. By default, the template’s are fine for most websites, but you are welcome to change it. The next option is to write your site description. Once you’re done, click the Save settings button.

If you are using a static homepage, you will see a link to edit your homepage and blog page to add title and meta description.

  1. Post type title and meta

Default WordPress comes with various post types such as Posts, Pages, Correction, Attachments, and Navigation Menus. Users can also define their own custom post types.

Yoast SEO allows you to set titles and meta for posts, pages, media and other custom posts. This site will use extensive titles and meta descriptions if you have forgotten to add headlines and meta descriptions for individual posts

We recommend leaving the details field blank for all the post types here we recommend using the post titles as the title template.

Remember the Yoast SEO plugin added an SEO meta box to your post editing area. For most SEO benefits, we recommend you to enter headlines and reports for each post, page and custom post manually on your site. Otherwise, Yoast SEO will use the defined title here and automatically add details to your posts and pages.

WordPress SEO does not add meta descriptions to the archives of these terms unless you have any details about your class, tags or custom taxonomy. Categories vs. See the guides our guide.

  1. Archive

The archives tab contains the title and meta settings for your author and date archive page and special pages like search and 404 pages.

We recommend that you check the author archive disabled for single-author blogs. If you are running a single blog writer, then your original blog and author archives are in the same content. There are settings to prevent duplicate content.

Stay in the same way as other settings and save changes.

  1. Other

Other tabs have some extra settings like you can disable for picking up descriptions from demos or Yahoo directories for your pages. If you are not sure what to do here, on select all of them

Step 8. Social media set up by the Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress

As we have said earlier, Yost SEO is a powerful host that provides optimization.

A great feature of the plugin is that it integrates your site with Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ social platforms.

You need to set up these platforms by clicking on the social link under the SEO menu. We will show you how each of them can be configured.

  1. Accounts

Under Social Settings, the first tab is for all your social accounts. This Yoast SEO allows you to tell Google about your social profile. For your site’s main social profiles you only need to add URLs and Twitter usernames.

  1. Facebook

On the Facebook tab, first, make sure the open graph metadata option is enabled. This checking WordPress SEO section allows you to add meta information to open your website’s Facebook.

When a Facebook page is posted on Facebook, it will take you to the right thumbnail and page information on Facebook.

The next option is to provide a thumbnail to your home page with SEO title and description. This image and description will be used when someone shares your home page on your Facebook site.

You can then provide a default thumbnail image URL. This image will be used for all articles, including no thumbnails or any other picture.

The next option is to connect your website to a Facebook profile. This profile can be a user profile as well as a Facebook application. In most cases, the way to go to the Facebook profile.

You can add a Facebook admin that gives you access to Facebook In Sets for your site.

  1. Twitter

For Twitter, you can add Twitter cards to your card title section.

You can select the card type to use. We recommend using summaries through large images.

  1. Pinterest

Pinterest Just uses Open Graph Meta Data like Facebook to make sure that you open check under Meta Data Box Facebook Settings.

After that, you must enter the site verification code provided by Pinterest. Visit your Pinterest account settings to add and verify your site. You will be given a meta tag that you need to enter here.

  1. Google+

If you create a Google+ page for your business, enter its URL here, and then go to your Google+ business page and enter the URL section of your website.

Step 9. XML Sitemap

A Sitemap is essential for your WordPress site. This is the fastest and easiest way to get indexed and to suggest search engines about your content. Sitemaps allow you to tell your search engine how to prioritize your content.

WordPress SEO makes Yoast WordPress XML sitemap easier to add. XML Sitemap settings are divided into several tabs. We will walk you through them.

First, you need to make sure that XML Sitemaps are enabled.

After that, you will need to click the ‘User Sitemap’ tab and ensure that the author/user sitemap option is disabled.

Go to the Post Type tab and disable any post type that you do not want to be included in Sitemaps.

By default, Yoast SEO disables media attachment from the sitemap

Repeat the same process for taxonomies. If there is an array that you do not want to include in Sitemaps, you can exclude it here.

Excluded post tabs allow you to move individual posts, pages, or custom post types from XML Sitemaps. Just enter the post ID in the field and save the changes.

Step 10. Advanced

The Advanced Settings page lets you configure settings related to Bread came, Permalinks, and RSS feeds.

  1. Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs are great for internal linking because it sets a clear path or trail on the page you have. These breadcrumbs, search results appear to provide additional benefits to your site.

Make sure that you click ‘Able’, it will release more breadcrumb settings.

Default settings should work for most websites, but if you want to change something then proceed. Once you click the Change Changes button.

  1. Permalinks

Just to be clear, we’re not talking about permalink settings in the Yoast SEO panel, not on setting tabs.

This section does not allow you to create SEO Friendly URLs in WordPress. It is estimated, that you have already done that.

So let’s see what kind of features this section looks like

By default, each category URL adds a category base i.e / section /.

By clicking ‘Remove’ you can strip the portion that you have from your category URL. This is something that many people want, but if you do not want your category URL and page URL conflicts, you can skip the same name if you leave the name undefined.

The next option is to basically redirect the attachment URLs to the post. WordPress posts and images can be attached to other media. But these attachments are available in their own URLs which are unnecessary in most cases. So by checking this box, you redirect your attachment page URL to the original post URL.

The next option is to remove the stop sound from permalinks. Close words Generic words used are common words. Yoast believes that by removing these, you create clear URLs. Although it minimizes URLs, we disagree with Yoast. For this reason, we have left it unselected.

What is the next option on the Permalinks page to remove the reply variation from the comments link? This disables links for JavaScript users, disabled.

Most web crawlers when they have disabled JavaScript on your site, so they cannot see the URL and move it quickly. This increases the efficiency of the crawl, especially if you are running a site with lots of comments.

Most often redirect the ugly URLs to clean permalinks. We suggest you ignore it if you do not know what you are doing.

  1. RSS

RSS feeds are often used by content scraps to copy content from your website Yoast SEO lets you add a backlink to your own site for each post in your RSS feed.

In this way, you will get backlinks to their site and Google will know that you are the parent source.

There are options for adding your author’s links, post links, blog links, and blog details. To get creative so it can be used to add ads to your RSS feed.

For advanced users: how to add custom content and manage your RSS feeds fully manipulate

Step 11. Tools

You can see that these settings have just spent a good amount to get right, so you probably want to export settings as a backup (just a trend in the future if you mess up wrongly). You can export settings to use it as a basic guide for all future sites that you are using this plugin.

The bulk editor allows you to edit a large number of post titles and descriptions. We do not recommend using it. Duplicate descriptions and titles can cause damage to your SEO.

Another tool is the file editor, we insist strongly on beginners and even intermediate users to stay away from these settings. Small mistakes can make your site unexpected for search engines or make it useless.

Step 12. Search Console

Yoast SEO Plugin Search Console section lets you connect Google Search Console tools (formerly Webmaster Tools) to your WordPress site.

You can add Google Webmaster Tools to your WordPress site and then verify it using the Yoast SEO plugin.

Just click to get the Google Authority code and you will get a code where you will be redirected to the Search Console website. Copy this code and enter it in the plugin settings to complete the verification.

After verification, you will be asked to select a profile. You must select your website from a drop-down menu.

Step 13: Redirections

Yoast SEO Premium adds a powerful Reader Manager. This allows you to quickly set up redirects for your WordPress site. You can set up 404 errors in Google Search Console and fix it quickly by making it as search console.
